Matteo Campagnoli (Milano, 1970) è autore della raccolta di poesie In una notte fortunata (Casagrande 2010); della pièce teatrale Dioniso a Tebe (2012), tratta dalle Baccanti di Euripide; e del libro di viaggio Dispacci dai Caraibi (Quodlibet/Humboldt 2015). Come traduttore ha curato, tra l’altro, opere dei poeti Premio Nobel Derek Walcott e Iosif Brodskij per Adelphi. Con Walcott ha inoltre lavorato alla messa in scena italiana delle pièce Odissea. Una versione teatrale (Ortigia Festival 2005) e Moon-Child (AAR 2011). Suoi saggi, traduzioni e poesie sono apparsi su riviste e quotidiani come «Lo Straniero», «Il Corriere della sera», «Il Sole 24 Ore»; «Viceversa» e «Azione» (CH); «Agenda» (GB); «Epiphany» (USA). Dal 2021 al 2025 è stato direttore artistico del festival di letteratura e traduzione «Babel» (vincitore dei due maggiori premi svizzeri per la promozione culturale) ed è tra i fondatori della rivista «Specimen. The Babel Review of Translations». Nel 2008 ha ricevuto il Premio Mario Luzi per la poesia inedita, nel 2011 il Premio Achille Marazza per la traduzione di poesia, nel 2016 la menzione speciale al Premio Benno Geiger per la traduzione di Egrette bianche di Derek Walcott. He has edited and translated works by Nobel Prize-winning poets Derek Walcott and Joseph Brodsky for Adelphi publishing house, and worked with Derek Walcott at the Italian staging of the plays The Odyssey. A stage Version (Ortigia Festival 2005), and Moon-Child (AAR 2011). His essays, translations, and poems have appeared in journals and newspapers such as Lo Straniero, Il Corriere della Sera, Il Sole 24 Ore (Italy); Viceversa, Azione (Switzerland), Agenda (UK); and Epiphany (USA). From 2021 to 2025, he served as artistic director of “Babel. Festival di letteratura e traduzione” (winner of the two major Swiss awards for cultural promotion), and he is among the founders of the online literally magazine Specimen. The Babel Review of Translations. He is the recipient of the Mario Luzi Prize for poetry and the Achille Marazza Prize for translation. Since 2019, he has resumed his photographic work after a fifteen-year hiatus.
